Tehran sports filmfest honors Arjmand

The 11th edition of the Tehran International FICTS Festival has honored veteran Iranian actor Daryoush Arjmand.

A number of high-ranking Iranian officials, athletes and artists attended the closing ceremony of the festival on Thursday night.

Born in 1944, Arjmand has a Bachelor’s degree in History and Sociology from the University of Mashhad in Iran, and a Master’s degree in Theater and Cinema, which he earned in Paris, France.

He received a Crystal Simorgh from the Fajr International Film Festival for his performance in ‘Capitan Khorshid’ in 1986.

He also grabbed a Crystal Simorgh for Best Male Actor in a Supporting Role for ‘Killing Dogs’ in 2000.

Arjmand has performed in many movies, including ‘Snow Man’, ‘The Visitor of Rey’, ‘Marriage, Iranian Style’, ‘Rules of the Game’, ‘The Boss’, ‘Hot Chocolate’, ‘Maritime Silk Road’, ‘Report of a Ceremony’, ‘Without Permission’, ‘Dissertation’, ‘Here is another City’, and ‘Attachment’.

He has also appeared in several series, such as ‘Imam Ali’, ‘The Days of Life’, ‘The Grey Land’, ‘Empty Frames’, ‘A Piece of Land’, ‘Hidden Secret’, ‘Setayesh’, ‘The King’s Secret’, and ‘Misinterpretation of a Dream’.

Daryoush Arjmand is the brother of late Iranian actor Anoushiravan Arjmand, father of Iranian actor Amir-Yal Arjmand and also uncle of Borzou Arjmand, another Iranian actor.

Organized by the Federation Internationale Cinema Television Sportifs (FICTS), the festival is a part of the World FICTS Challenge that runs in 16 countries around the world.

The Iran edition of the 11th FICTS has been slated for January 15-25, 2018, in collaboration with the National Olympic and Paralympic Committee, the Ministry of Sports and Youth, IRIB and the Tehran Municipality.
